A tour full of stories through Harderwijk
The bike tours always start at Dries van den Berg’s Eel Smokehouse & Fishmonger’s, where Mirjam has her bikes ready. “The nice thing is that Peter van den Berg is often there himself to welcome the participants.” After a cup of coffee and a treat from Wegerif Bakery, the group sets off.
Along the way, Mirjam shares the most fascinating stories about the town. “I trained with the Harderwijk City Guides Guild, so I’ve got plenty to tell!” One of her favourite stops is the Grote Kerk. “It’s too beautiful to miss! And yet I often hear people say: ‘I’ve never been inside here before!’ Such a shame, because it’s such a special place.” The route through the city is about ten kilometres long, easily manageable on a standard bike.
From the city centre to the outskirts
In addition to the popular city route, Biketour Harderwijk also offers a tour through the countryside, passing through Hierden, Essenburgh Castle and the sand drifts. ‘This is also a really lovely route, perfect for nature lovers!’ Outdoor Harderwijk on Boekhorstlaan provides the bikes for this tour.
Cycling for the whole family
Less mobile participants have also been catered for. Biketour Harderwijk works in partnership with Riksja Harderwijk, so that grandparents can join in the cycling without having to pedal. “That really makes it a family outing!”
Recognisable on a bike in Harderwijk
Anyone who sees Mirjam cycling through the town recognises her straight away. “I always wear my Heerlijk Harderwijk hoodie and my bike is a moving billboard for Harderwijk businesses.” Soon, all her bikes will have a basket with a QR code linking to her website.

The participants come from all over. ‘Friends, girlfriends, family, hen parties, colleagues... anyone who wants to experience Harderwijk in a unique way is welcome!’ With her enthusiasm and love for Harderwijk, Mirjam turns every bike ride into a special experience.
