Rootsriders were formed in 2006 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Bob Marley's death with a sold-out concert at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. Current lead singers of The Wailers, Mitchell Brunings, Shirma Rouse, and Giovanca, are well-known former members. In 2021, the band reached the finals of the first edition of the SBS6 program: The Tribute, Battle of the Bands, performing alongside their three fellow finalists in a sold-out Ziggo Dome. The band performs extensively abroad for both their own concerts and festivals.
