Turks Cultureel Festijn

Turkish cultural festival in Harderwijk

The M. Akif Ersoy Mosque in Harderwijk opens its doors for three days for the annual Turkish Cultural Festival. The festival is free and open to everyone and is entirely dedicated to encounters, introductions, and hospitality. Visitors from throughout the city and region are welcome to learn more about Turkish culture and Islam.

Tasting, walking around and getting acquainted

During the festival, there are charming stalls offering Turkish delicacies like Adana kebab, coffee, and the famous Turkish tea. Guided tours of the building give visitors insight into the history of the mosque, which opened in 2007. Around 600 students from schools in Harderwijk and the surrounding area participate annually.

More than a festival in Harderwijk

The mosque plays a social role in the Harderwijk community year-round. During the festival, there's room for questions about Turkish culture, religion, and daily life. Around fifty sponsors contribute to the event, with proceeds going towards the building's maintenance.
